Sophia Campbell

General Board Member

Sophia Campbell serves as a General Board Member on the United Way of Winneshiek County Board. She is an Environmental Specialist with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources, where she works as a watershed project coordinator in Winneshiek County. Her work focuses on conservation planning and the implementation of cost-share programs for farmers and landowners, with an emphasis on balancing agricultural profitability with environmental stewardship. Sophia’s expertise includes improving soil health, protecting local water quality, and building collaborative partnerships with agencies and community stakeholders to promote responsible resource management and regenerative agriculture.

Sophia brings strong project management experience to the board, with a deep understanding of managing public and private funds, navigating grant application processes, and ensuring that investments deliver measurable outcomes for the community. She is committed to advancing initiatives that support cleaner water, resilient landscapes, and sustainable food systems.

In addition to her role with United Way, Sophia serves on the Allamakee County Pheasants Forever Board and participates on subcommittees for the Great Outdoors Foundation and the Iowa State University Extension Watershed Academy. She is also actively involved with several local and regional conservation and community organizations.

Sophia lives in rural Decorah and holds a bachelor’s degree from Drake University. Outside of work and volunteer service, she enjoys hiking, gardening, hunting, downhill skiing, line dancing, and traveling. She and her husband also operate a small business focused on training versatile dogs for upland and waterfowl hunting.
